25 July 2024. Day 1/75
So I made it 3 days the first time. That’s okay. I’m gonna make it longer this time, though. I got out of bed within 10 minutes of waking up, so that’s a good start to it! New end date is October 8.
I think the thing that’s been the toughest for me has been reading. In my head, I want to read before I go to bed, but I’m always too tired to end up actually doing it. I think I’ll try doing it in the morning or during breakfast instead. I think I’m also gonna change it to 5 pages because that feels less overwhelming. I would rather read 5 pages than 0. And also I can read 10 pages in one day and 0 in another. Otherwise, same rules and details as last time.
Just to keep me motivated, here are some goals that I have for doing this and reasons why this is important to me and the things I want to fix about my life.
- I want to lose 15 pounds by October 8
- I want to get on a disciplined study schedule for the GRE or GMAT (still deciding which one to take). I want to get an extremely high and competitive score on it. My original goal was to get an MBA. Now, I’m toying with the idea of doing a joint MBA program, maybe with a JD, but I’m still exploring programs.
- I want to feel organized and have a purpose and work toward something concrete

Journal Prompt:
What bothers you most about other people? What do you love most about other people? What bothers you most about yourself? What do you love about yourself?
- What bothers you most about other people?
- Condescension!! I’m insanely sensitive to condescension and disrespect and patronization. Number 1 pet peeve for sure. The smallest suggestion of condescension can definitely send me spiraling for days or weeks.
- Judgment and negativity- I hate when people bring a fun vibe down. I hate when people compare something good to something they perceive to be better until it sucks the good out of the thing that was already good in the first place (sorry if that was a confusing way to word it haha). I also hate when people feel the need to have an opinion on every single thing ever, and I hate the way that’s become even more prevalent because of social media.
- Distrust- I don’t encounter this too often because I tend to surround myself with people I trust. But every now and then, I hear things from a friend of a friend or a stranger online or on a TV show or something about how someone doesn’t trust the world around them. I understand, but I think it’s a bad lens to see life through.
- Entitlement- I hate when people can’t put themselves in the shoes of someone less fortunate than them. I hate when people judge others who had less advantages for not going as far or fast in life.
- What do you love most about other people?
- Imagination and creativity, especially when harnessed in a positive way- I’m the biggest music fan ever. I love art and writing and storytelling and world building. One of my favorite memories of a friend is people watching from my car and I loved the way she made up stories about the people we were looking at.
- When they pay attention to the little details and think about loved ones at random times of the day- photos and a text that says “this made me think of you.” Souvenirs after long trips. Taking the long route to pass by the store that sells your favorite person’s favorite ice cream. Handwritten thank you cards. Moms who cut up fruit for their adult kids for no reason.
- Sharing stories and memories- people who chat in the checkout line. Cashiers who make conversation. 17 minute voice audios from your best friend. Granddaughters interviewing grandparents about past lives.
- People who don’t care what other people think (if they’re being weird, not if they’re being mean)- People who burst randomly into song or hum a bit to themselves at the supermarket. Wearing weird or “uncool” fashion. Listening to weird or “uncool” music. Liking things after the trend has gone and passed.
- People who plan surprises (the more intricate the better)
- Genuine love and support and gratitude and kindness
- Helping strangers
- What bothers you the most about yourself?
- ADHD and inability to focus at times
- Super disorganized and messy
- Inconsistent
- God awful at texting back
- My skin
- Can be a bit too quiet at times
- Wish I was further in my career path by now
- What do you love most about yourself?
- Super supportive
- Thrive under pressure
- I’m always trying to become a better version of myself
- Good at saving money
- Good at reading other people
- My artistic ability
